Process Technologies
Bio-pulping of Eucalyptus:
Technology for pretreatment wood chips with lignin degrading fungi, for energy savings, low consumption of pulping and bleaching chemicals and reduced effluent discharge, in pulp and paper industry.
Enzymatic Bleaching of
Pulp: With the process developed at the Centre requirement of bleach chemicals can be reduced by up to 20% and AOX discharge by more than 25%. The technology which has been tried on wood, bamboo and agri-residues also improves the brightness of pulp.
Epoxy based sealing
compound: Has application in electric motor industry, where it is used for sealing the gap between yoke and the field coil in high horse power motors. The compound which provides F class insulation, requires curing at 130 (C. The technology is low investment and offers immediate attractive returns.
Finish Varnish for Electrical Insulation:
The air drying type varnish stops the ingress of moisture and provides a smooth surface, thus protecting the insulation in the electric motor.
No-Carb Paint: Has application in heat treatment industry for selective carburizing. The technology is low investment and offers immediate returns. The technology has been
commercialized. The package includes water-based paint as well as solvent-based paint. Water-based paint requires oven curing.
Plant Growth Enhancer (Biofertilizers): TCIRD technology to produce liquid
biofertilizers from waste from starch industry has already been successfully commercialized. Eco-friendly product has been tried over several crops and improves productivity up to 30%.
Storage of Bagasse for Pulp &
Paper: The technology ensures stabilization of bagasse by preventing microbial attack, for round the year availability of bagasse for paper manufacture.
Storage of Bamboo: The protocol for storage of bamboo and handling strategy developed by the Centre, reduces the losses to bamboo during storage upto 75%, as well as improves the pulp quality.
Plant Growth Regulator: Phytotonic,
an agrochemical developed at Thapar Centre for Industrial
Research & Development is useful for enhancing crop yield
by up to 25%. Phytotonic
improves photosynthesis activity in the plant and thus
facilitates better nutrient assimilation at propagation as
well as growth stages. When applied on plants it is quickly
absorbed by plant cells and acts as a catalyst for activating
and accelerating
enzymatic functions.
It has demonstrated higher growth in a
variety of plant species- ornamental flowers, cereals,
vegetables, fruits, tobacco, forestry plantations, etc.
